Happy Pancake day!! As it is Pancake day, we thought it would be a great idea to share our style & twist on the traditional pancake. Why not give it a try.

We don't necessarily consider traditional pancakes to be a bad option (flour, eggs and milk) and whole meal flour, whole milk and free range eggs (organic if you can) are very respectable ingredients. Just don’t undo the goodness by loading sugar over the top. However, if you are looking for something different or a quick option to work around training sessions at other times, here’s a simple and fast recipe to fill a hole.

Ingredients
Oats (preferably organic)
Milk (whole milk)
Whey protein powder

I won’t list amounts here as you can play around with this according how many pancakes you want to make and how much protein/carbohydrate consumption you are aiming for.

Method
It doesn’t get much easier than this! Put the required volume of oats in a food blender and give it a wiz to break up the oats. Next add in the protein powder and wiz again to mix with the oats. Finally add in the milk a little at a time, blending in-between until you have a fairly thick consistency.

Prep done, put a pan on the hob and heat, a little coconut oil can be used if you’re worried about sticking or simply want some of the nutritious benefits of coconut oil. Once the pan is hot, pour in a small amount of your pancake mix (I prefer to make small ones but it’s up to you), tend with a spatula to prevent burning, serve and eat.

Enjoy!
